Placeholder: Response to Joel’s Daniel 8 Video is Coming

A few readers have contacted me about Joel Richardson’s video teaching on Daniel 8.

This post is an announcement that a response on my part is coming. It will be posted on this website in a few days.

The bottom-line will be that Joel took a couple wrong turns, ending up at the decision he made. The post will be written because Joel is a friend, and this small prophetic community needs to have a dialogue.

Signpost theory (“radical futurism” in Joel’s parlance) is alive and well. Who knows, this may lead to an all-out debate within this prophetic community.

Stay tuned.

  1. I would love to see a good, friendly debate between you and Joel. You two are my go-to guys for eschatology.

  2. Mine too. Interesting. I rarely comment on both your websites but I always follow each new post. Both your opinions are highly valued to me.

  3. The red flag of war that was placed on the Jamkaran Mosque near Qom, Iran, after the death of Soleimani, is now showing up on some IRGC fast attack boats.

  4. At first I thought that he had finally come around. Then he takes a big twist and stumbles because he can not give up what he believes about Daniel 7. If he hadn’t made the connection that if he changed his position for a futuristic “Goat” that he would also have to believe in a futuristic “Leopard” then it seems like he might have come around.

Here is my comment on his youtube video. I hope it wasn’t harsh and that he doesn’t misinterpret me as my intent was not to be hurtful in any way.

    Joel—
So Daniel 7 is a stumbling block to you believing that Daniel 8 is 100% futuristic? “These four beasts are four kings which arise out of the earth” Yet Nebuchadnezzar was dead. And Saddam fulfilled the Daniel 7 lion w/ wings just fine with no issues. I did like the dot that you connected on the Leopard and how if you take a futuristic approach to Daniel 8 you have to do so in Daniel 7. But then you hit your wall. At first I had thought that you were saying that you had come around and are now in agreement with Mark, but unless I am mistaken you are still just as confused as you were before. On the one hand a christian without much influence that has the knowledge of both options could just wait and see. But you brother have influence to help spread the message that Iran is about to start a war in the middle east and give us a road map to the AC. But because of your stumbling block with Daniel 7 you are unable to help be that influence to warn the church which may very well be one of the most important things that you could ever do in the kingdom with your sphere of influence. Please don’t take this as keyboard warrior bashing. I have read several of your books and have benefited from your teaching. And obviously I have read Mark’s book. Several times in fact. We are all routing for you from those of us who are of the “signpost” perspective.

  5. if I can help or partner with you in this, im ready for action!

  6. Joel did not seems to reconcile the 4 kingdom split…I think the best he could do with Alexander was 5?

  7. Concerning what I said above, Joel actually responded twice. First time he seemed to want to dialog but didn’t say much and second time was a complete cop out. Please as a brother/sister LMK if you think I came on to strong. I can be pretty intense some times. It’s part of my nature.
It seems like from his video that he has had a lot of struggle and is or was on the brink of taking a 100% futuristic view of D8 for the first 2/3’s of the video. I thought he had changed his stance and then all of a sudden he goes off track and forces the 4 or 5 or 6 ect. successors of Alexander the great upon the D7 leopard and then he can’t get the unicorn goat to line up with the leopard and renigs on everything he says about a futuristic approach. It all sounds like a bunch of coronavirus double talk news, typical these days that everyone wants to double talk everything.

  8. So much double talk going on right now in the media from conservative, left wing, and independent media alike. They will say something like, Covid19 is definitely man made bioweapon. and then in the next sentence say it’s just like the flu and we oppose lock downs and want to be free and not wear a mask. Is it the same with what is being said in all christian circles right now? Cause Joel was full of double talk. First he says that he has been strongly considering a futuristic position on Daniel 8. Then he says that Gabriel said 3 times its for the time of the end in a convincing tone and I though he had really changed his point of view. And then he gets into a obscure part of history that doesn’t quite make the mark on the successors of Alexander of Greece and flops 180!!! Do you guys see his video as double talk too or is it just me?
I had said a few things to him on there and he started to reply and then pretty much copped out all together. I’m done with the conversation at the point as it is not my intention to debate or make enemy’s. I’d just look mean and bashing in the end. And that’s not my spirit though I have a hard time not making my writing come out that way. Though I do get quickly fed up with they type of communication that Joel was using in his brief reply’s to me. I would have rather him not reply at all which is more common on youtube.

  9. Joel seems irritated that anyone should understand a pre-Antichrist sequence of events that as each happens the next can be looked for. Are there no prophecies to be fulfilled prior to the rise of Antichrist? Joel Richardson was chosen to prove from the Bible that the Antichrist will be Islamic; his books “The Islamic Antichrist” and “Mideast Beast” do that. For Islam to become the platform for the Antichrist, there must be stages of growth. What the visions of Daniel 7, Daniel 8, and Revelation 6 have in common is that they all forecast sequences of events that all end at the same point: the reign of the Antichrist.

In 1979, Saddam Hussein (1937-2006) became the President of Iraq, and Ruhollah Khomeini (1902-1989) became the Supreme Leader of Iran. In 1980, Iraq invaded the oil fields of the Khuzestan Province of Iran, resulting in the Iran-Iraq War of 1980-1988. In 1990, Iraq invaded the oil fields of Kuwait, resulting in the Gulf War of 1990-1991. In 2003, the United States and allied nations invaded Iraq, removing Saddam Hussein from power and forcing Iraq to form a more civilized government. This first stage of growth, completed in 2011, set up Iran to become the enabler of the second stage of growth. Weak-kneed elements of Islam must be overcome by its most vigorous proponent. In a 2020-04-25 speech, the Supreme Leader of Iran said: “Today, Islamic powers and Islamic governments have considerations for oppressive powers in the world. They are afraid of them and ignore their own power. The consequence of this is that they will be humiliated and receive strikes to their heads” (source: Islamic Invitation Turkey).

Just as Iran suffered greatly during the first stage, but thereby became strengthened for its second stage role, so it will be with four Sunni countries when the time comes for the prophesied third stage to begin. Then comes a fourth stage, during which Antichrist will rise to unite all Islam as his platform for power. It is good to know about these things before they happen. “If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into” (Matthew 24:43 NIV).

  10. Joel gets huge volumes of correspondence. He can’t swim upstream against the current answering thousands of email, Twitter, Youtube, FAI web app, Joel’s Trumpet site, and good old-fashioned United States Postal Service snailmail. He doesn’t have time to read even a portion, much less answer all of them and the inevitable TENS of thousands of follow-ups to those he does answer. That alone would be a full-time job for anybody, and then they’d never get anything done. Plus, he’s so used to taking flak from all quarters he just tunes out like anyone would do.

From ten in the morning to ten in the evening, masses keep rolling in Tagalog, a language spoken in the Philippines, English, Arabic, Spanish, French, Malayalam and Tamil, two Indian languages spoken respectively in Kerala and Tamil Nadu….
“Before 2008, it was difficult to transmit our values and religion for the next generation, the construction of the Church really made a difference,” said Balomares, one of the sixty employees.

“…All the region’s economies are under strain with the coronavirus pandemic crushing demand for oil. Brent crude prices are down to $25 a barrel, 60% lower than at the end of last year.

Still, Saudi Arabia needs a price of $76 to balance its budget this year, which is higher than Abu Dhabi’s break-even price of under $70 and almost double Qatar’s of $39, according to the International Monetary Fund. Saudi reserves fell by $27 billion in March, the most on a monthly basis since at least 2000, as the government looked to make up for falling revenue.

Saudi Arabia’s dollar bonds have lost 2.5% this year, according to Bloomberg Barclays indexes. That’s much less than the emerging-market average of 11%, but more than Qatar’s losses of 1.2%. Abu Dhabi’s debt has gained 0.5%.

Other Arab countries had blockaded Qatar. If Iran simply passes them by, or even keeps them as a trading partner to keep some trade going in case other countries sanction Iran during a war, Qatar may not join other Sunni countries against Iran.

Qatari oil production has a break-even point almost half of Saudi’s. They still aren’t making money, but they’re losing it much slower than Saudi Arabia or Iran. Most of the manual labor and service jobs done in Qatar are done by immigrants, many of them non-Muslim. Qatar won’t be able to make money unless they become a major trading port, something they can’t do while blockaded.

  12. Kris,
My response is written more for the community than for Joel, though I would hope Joel would take note.
I am concerned for him because we are friends, and one thing he said needs to be brought up and held to account.

  13. @Mark Sorry, I guess I should have been more specific in my first post that I was responding more to some of the earlier comments. Just because electronics open up new windows doesn’t mean other parts of life let us do whatever else we might be working on just as instantly. Some things can’t be rushed. Some things can’t be delayed. I have tried to contact people who simply won’t answer at all, or have trouble finding the time because their plate is already full. I’ve had trouble finding time to answer people during busy seasons.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with dialogue. That seems to be what you’ve been doing. Joel seems like he’d be able to keep up with you in discussions where I’d be far out of my depth.
