If you follow the news in the Middle East, you probably saw the news story about the helicopter going down that was carrying, among others, Iranian President Raisi. He was returning from a meeting at the Azerbaijani border.
Iranian state media announced the death of Raisi.
For those who might be concerned as to how this affects the Four Signposts, it doesn’t, or at least, it shouldn’t.
The reason for this is that the position of President is administrative only. The real power is with the two horns of the Ram, those being the Supreme Leader, and the IRGC.
The first Vice President, Mohammad Mokhber, will sit as acting President until a special election is conducted on June 28, 2024.
Mohammad Mokhber is the new acting President of Iran.
Among the list of potential candidates is our old friend and zealous-for-the-Second-Signpost former President of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
