(10 March 2026) As an old saying goes, “Be careful what you wish for.”
Human beings plan, and God has other plans for those plans. Just look at Joseph’s brothers selling Joseph into slavery, only to be ruled by him in the end.
The Report
A report from the DoD has come out saying that there is a complaint that military commanders are telling their troops not to be afraid of the war on Iran, because Trump has been “anointed by Jesus to light the signal fire in Iran to cause Armageddon and mark his return to Earth.”
I have not been able to discern exactly how the US military commanders think this war with Iran is causing Armageddon. From the Signpost perspective it will, but almost no one knows the Signposts.
My guess is that since Persia is discerned by the Church to be mentioned in the end times only in Ezekiel 38, they might think it is the US military’s job to rain down God’s wrath on the Persian army, rather than God Himself.
A representative of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF) seems to be a central clearing house for collecting the over 100 complaints from enlisted soldiers of this position by commanders.
The Irony
The view that it is the US’s job to rain down God’s wrath on Iran so that Armageddon can happen is wrong on many levels, including from the Signpost perspective that there is a twist of irony in all this.
The founder of MRFF, Mikey Weinstein, said about the commanders’ statements, “What we’ve been saying forever, if you look back in history whenever you’ve merged any sort of religious fanaticism with the machinery of the state that conducts war, we do not end up with little babbling brooks, creeks, streams, ponds or lakes. We end up with one thing: oceans and oceans of blood.”
He is absolutely right about history. And in this case, too, the Signpost theory says it’s the same for what is happening now.
The Signpost theory of interpretation says that the Second Signpost will indeed be very bloody in the Middle East, and will cause economic devastation across the world.
It will be the first major event that leads to the Third Signpost, the Fourth Signpost, the Tribulation, the Gog-Magog War, and Armageddon, but for the world, not just Iran. And as it turns out it is all being triggered by the actions of the United States government and military.
History rhymes. It was the US government and military that conducted the First Signpost as well.
Conclusions
Deliciously ironic, isn’t it? Christians with the wrong view of prophecy in control of the government using Bible end-time prophecy as an excuse to do all this to Iran and saying it will be ok.
But it is not ok, not one bit. They are shooting themselves in the foot, no pun intended. (And there is yet another layer of irony but I won’t go there as criticism might get rather thick.)
Interestingly, as I posted about anagrams a few days ago, the name of Iran’s response to the US is called “True Promise.” And what is its anagram? It’s “Routs Empire.”
If the Signpost theory is correct, and we are witnessing the start of the Second Signpost, then Christians with the wrong prophecy view are indeed going to end up routing their own empire, bringing calamity on their own nation. And in yet another twist of irony will result in a great revival in the USA, just not in the way these same Christians would have likely expected.
I realize too, I may get a wave of criticism from Christians for saying these things. However, let us see if the Second Signpost plays out and we will see.
There is one more note. This touches on one reason I have not pressed to make this theory known to politicians, not that they would have believed it anyway. Due to some very weird things that have happened in my life in the last several years, I have come to realize that God wasn’t going to let be known widely until the Signposts were rolling along.
Keep watch, and God bless.

Bless you for this, Mark. As an evangelical (which I am not), I know that must have actually been difficult for you to write.
In their trauma, the Spanish created the Inquisition and became the very thing they fought against. To a much-lesser extent (even as horrible as 9-11 was), America seems to be doing the exact same thing all nations do: take the human bent towards “helping” God do his job.
I could go on and on about this, Mark, but I’ll stop in a bit. Donald, Pete, and all angels have no idea of the hornets-nest they are releasing.
How strange it is that a group of Vikings in what is now “Normandie” attacked England almost a thousand years ago and from that came the United States of America, the direct possible-trigger for the fall of Saddam and the clipping of his wings as he was almost literally pulled from the earth and the coming ram-invasion which will trigger the goat-counter, the division of Javan, and the rise of Antichrist and all that follows.
And truly – how oddball that a singular monk transmitting to his local archbishop on 31 October 1517 his 95 complaints against abuses of the Western church created the germ of the religious tradition in which the said United States has fostered the conservative movement that now makes war in Persia.
This puts the clown-show that was the 2nd Presidential debate in 2016 into a whole new light – LOL!
Hi Jeff,
It’s amazing, isn’t it? How God has both woven mankind’s history and most humans really have no clue to it all.
Thanks for this very insightful comment. Well said.
About me, if there was one tradition in Christianity I might be closest to, its evangelicalism. However, having gone through all the areas of Christianity as a young person (Church of Christ, raging Pentecostal, Lutheran, and Catholic), and drifting away as an adult, Christ then grabbed me in November 1997 and showed me He had to be my God. It’s all about Christ, not denominations. It’s all about partnering with Him in His work by the power of the Holy Spirit; actions, not church attendance. I call myself a Christ-follower. Everything else – even a theology one might defend beyond the basics that is Christ is God and the Son of God, and Him crucified and raised from the dead – can be idolatry.
God bless, Jeff!
