Day 18 of the Oil Blockage: Is Open or Closed About to Become Moot?

(18 March 2026) It is now 10 pm MST March 18, or, 5 AM GMT, March 19.

As of now, the Strait of Hormuz continues to be blocked. It has been blocked for 19 days. About 304 to 380 million barrels of oil have been removed from global oil supplies by Iran’s closing of the Strait of Hormuz.

The bar graph below shows shipments of oil through the Strait of Hormuz for the last four weeks. Since the oil has been mostly cut off since March 2, the idea of the Second Signpost having started March 2 is still in play. It is the second horseman that takes peace of mind away from the earth.

Bar graph showing crude oil transported through the Strait of Hormuz from February 28 to March 16, 2026.

Many of the news items of today were presented in this last post and this post.

We will see what the next day or two brings. Does the IRGC rain destruction down on the Gulf oil infrastructure? Does the Second Signpost kick up into high gear sooner than later? If the IRGC does destroy much or most of the oil infrastructure around the Gulf,  I believe we can definitely say the second horseman is out, and the Second Signpost has begun.

If the IRGC does carry out its threats, than there will be no oil to ship through the Strait of Hormuz. Whether the Strait is open or closed would become a moot point because there would be no oil to transport anyway.

Keep watch.

  1. Thank you for these, have been following for a bit. Maranatha 🙏🏻

  2. I recently re-read the book of Daniel. Wondering if you have an end-times interpretation or chiastic study of chapters 13 and 14. Could Bel=Baal=Allah, the Dragon =Satan, and Daniel =Jesus so that the story represents Jesus’ triumph over them? In the other story about Suzanna being falsely accused, could she represent the church and the accusers be the Anti-Christ and false prophet?

  3. John,
You are referring to the two extra chapters of Daniel as part of the Apocrypha, that is Bel and the Dragon, and Suzanna.
Hope this doesn’t offend you and all who hold to that position, but I do not consider them Holy inspired Scripture. One thing I noticed to confirm is that the chiasmi in Scripture can only have been written by God, and while Daniel 1-12 has a beautiful symmetry, both within the Aramaic chapters, and then within the Hebrew chapters 1, and 8-12, and like wise across the whole book of chapters 1-12, chapters 13 and 14 don’t have a chiastic pattern, meaning they were written by men. That’s not to say the stories might help teach lessons, but they are not to be taken, I believe, as inerrant Scripture.

  4. Just to follow up on my post about the difference between the Septuagint and Masoretic text of Daniel 7 (made on your first Day 17 post which now appears to be locked):

I believe the Septuagint text should be considered because it appears to better match old testament scripture as quoted by Jesus and his apostles. Historically, it appears to have been prevalent at the time of Christ because the Hellenists were in charge of the temple.

In the case of the bear, the language of the Septuagint seems to fit what we observe: the bear is on its side – constrained by the air superiority of Israel and the US – yet continues to gnaw on ribs (the GCC, ships in the strait of Hormuz, Israel). And its actions appear to be drawing others into devouring flesh (the GCC may start strikes, the US may send ground troops).

  5. David,
This conversation would lead to a big debate about Masoretic vs Septuagint, as you know. Aside from the fact that I still lean on the Masoretic because after all it is the original language, the bear higher on one side (Masoretic) is parallel to the Ram (one horn higher), and if the Bear is leaning on one side (Septuagint) than that cuts the strongest clue the Bear and Ram are related.
Keep in mind that the level of detail given in the Bible is not much – that is, we don’t know when or under what circumstances the Bear and Ram begin their runs. So to allow the picture to talk of US/Israeli strikes being part of the overall picture, it doesn’t fit. Also keep in mind the Ram gets to do all it wants to do. So please be patient. If this is all the Second Signpost we will still see the IRGC/Basij armies move out.
Regarding Jesus and the apostles quoting the Septuagint, they may not have actually quoted the Septuagint. They would have spoken Aramaic day-to-day and the authors of the gospels like Luke would have used whatever was available to him and since he was a Greek he would have likely used the Septuagint. I know my view is in the minority, but there you have it.
