Architect of the First Signpost Passes Away

(4 Nov. 2025) Former vice president Dick Cheney, who served under President George W. Bush, passed away yesterday, November 3, at age 84.

Many media articles and eulogies will undoubtedly talk about how he was a great patriot, and served President Bush faithfully during 9/11 and the Iraq War years.

There is, however, one role that will not be mentioned anywhere except here. VP Cheney had a central role planning and coordinating the USA carrying out the First Signpost.

The First Signpost

The First Signpost comes from the first horseman (Rev. 6:1-2) and the first beast of Daniel 7 (Dan. 7:4). My book, Daniel Revisited (Ch. 9), makes the detailed case as to how Iraq’s government, in transitioning from a brutal dictatorship under Saddam into a parliamentarian democracy, fulfilled the first beast prophecy and that Saddam himself fulfilled the first horseman prophecy. These interpreted fulfillments were not from broad hand waving either, but were a fulfillment of those two passages in detail to the letter.

(Arriving at this Four Signpost interpretation two weeks before the First Signpost was announced in February 2003, is what got my attention to write the books and sound the alarm.)

Cheney, the Architect of the First Signpost

President Bush approved the action to remove Saddam Hussein and so allowed the First Signpost to be conducted in the first place. However, it was VP Dick Cheney who was the architect. He was in charge of coordinating the military action, the timetable, and presenting the “facts” to the President. Cheney was central in taking the intelligence provided and making the story that Saddam had to be removed.

It was Cheney who made the rationale (i.e., regarding the WMD) that the force to make the lion stand and its mind changed should be applied. It was Cheney who coordinated the details of how and when the man’s mind might replace the beast’s mind.

The Legacy

Our world has been living with the aftermath of the First Signpost now for 22 years.

The Bible itself paints the picture of what a strange thing it is that happened to Iraq. The lion (Iraq) was made to stand on its hind legs like a circus-trained animal, and its mind was changed from Saddam’s brutal dictatorship (the lion’s mind) to the democracy (the mind of a man). Of course the account in Daniel 4 provides the foreshadowing of this event.

If the Four Signpost interpretation is correct, then Cheney will go down for eternity as the architect of the First Signpost.

What’s Next

And we continue to wait for the Second Signpost, that is, Iran’s ground forces rushing out across the Middle East, occupying many Muslim countries, and shutting off the oil.

That event will be the second of the four predictions made by the Four Signpost interpretation, to fulfill Bible end-time prophecy.
