The Coming Oil Shock, Part 2

(6 March 2026) Well, now that it looks like we are at the eve of the Second Signpost, this post is meant as a “Part 2” to this post written in 2012. And though the oil profiles of the nations shown in the Graph are a bit different, those nations are in roughly the same position.

West Texas Intermediate Price

The price of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) was $65 per barrel prior to the US attack on Iran, on February 27, 2026. As of today, one week later, the price is $91 per barrel, a 40 percent increase in price.

TheEnforcer YouTube channel has reported not only the various reasons that production is being curtailed in several Gulf countries (storage is reaching capacity due to no oil moving out), but what future repercussions of this will be. They mention some insightful consequences.

A Future High Oil Price

If the Second Signpost plays out, the second horseman will take peace of mind from the earth (Rev. 6:4). This would be the oil. Iraynay is the Greek word meaning peace of mind, i.e. being able to put food on the table.

If oil is cut a total of 20-25 percent, we could be looking at a jump in the oil price of 6-8 times that of the price prior to this war. That would mean, the price per barrel of WTI could be about $400 to $500 per barrel, wrecking the world economy. It would go up this much because we saw a doubling in price twice in 1973 and 1979 when production was cut only 6 percent each time.

Something I Didn’t Notice Before

And the following is very interesting. It could change the order of events within the Second Signpost.

In looking at Revelation 6:4 again (NIV 1984, “given power to take peace from the earth and to make men slay each other,” and in light of all of what is happening, as one reader recently pointed out, perhaps the order given in the Bible might correspond to the order as it plays out in fulfillment. What I mean is this—the second horseman is given power to take peace from the earth, and then to cause men to butcher one another in the Muslim Realm.

This is significant. What it means is that the oil fields and production could be taken out by Iran’s missiles and drones, the West becomes impoverished, and THEN the actual run out across the Middle East to conquer Muslim nations could occur weeks or even months afterward.

If this is the case, we in the West could be poor for some time and then watch the Ram butt in the three directions, and be completely helpless to do anything about it (Dan. 8:4, no one could stop the Ram). It would also mean the Second Signpost could drag out for months longer, potentially.

(As a side note, I find the group of watchmen (men and women) coming alongside, to be a blessing. One blessing is learning from them. And I am encouraged by the caliber, both in mind and faith, of the dear brothers and sisters who visit and read this site.)

Conclusion

The core of the Second Signpost hasn’t really started yet.

If the oil fields are taken out, then we can likely expect the invasion. Again though, just like a Ram, it could come at any time after that as a shock.

Keep all your gas tanks full so you can get home. The time may still come when you won’t be able to get gasoline because it is either gone, or $40 per gallon.

Everything from which oil is made may be hard to get.
