(3 August 2026) It is now 10 pm MST August 3, or, 4 AM GMT, August 4. We have been watching events centered on Iran and its regime, waiting for escalation of what looks to be the Second Signpost. We have been watching since February 28.
The Strait of Hormuz has been closed for 156 days.
In the last couple days we saw President Trump give the orders to attack the Iranian energy infrastructure, and then withdraw those orders.
The Arab nations, Saudi Arabia and the oil rich nations around it, all convinced Trump to stop.
Lt. Col. Dan Davis on Deep Dive gives a nice summary of the situation from his perspective. From time 00:54 to 02:45, he unknowingly spells out the Second Signpost that could happen and the effect on the world that it would have.
After being asked why the attack stopped, Davis said,
“Yeah, I’m grateful that it has. I’m glad we’re coming under these circumstances instead of the other one because it would be catastrophic for really the entire global economy for a long period of time. We’re not out of the woods yet. But by all the accounts that I can get from folks who have some pretty high access in the administration, and some other things we can see just out in the open is that the Saudi Arabian Muhammad bin Salman apparently read President Trump the riot act and apparently he’s been trying to say listen don’t make this attack because number one it’s not going to work. It’s not going to bring Iran to its knees. If you couldn’t do it in the first 40 days, if you couldn’t do it in the two month of a blockade, if you couldn’t do it in the 13 month of the mini attack, you certainly aren’t going to do it today. But this one was going to spawn a significant counter strike directly against Saudi Arabia, against Qatar, against Kuwait, Bahrain, all those all the GCC countries were going to get rained on if Trump hit the energy infrastructure on the Iranian side. They I mean went so far as to put out a target list and said this is what we’re coming after. And I’m told from some folks on the Iranian side that that was communicated honestly to them at the diplomatic level that they meant it that they were going to hit it. We now see and then the Iranian side has conclusively demonstrated that when they shoot something they hit it. They hit it with pinpoint accuracy and the best of our air defenses none of it has any effect on it. So if President Trump had attacked then these countries would Saudi Arabia they would have been helpless and defenseless against the incoming missiles and it would have had years of consequence to them and their oil production capacity therefore on the oil supply on the global stage and apparently that was enough that pushed it over the top to where President Trump finally said okay we’re going to take we’re going to stop this right here we’re not going to go any further.”
The situation is as I’ve been reporting here at this website. As soon as the US destroys Iranian energy infrastructure, Iran destroys the Arab oil infrastructure, a quarter of the world’s oil is taken out, and the Second Signpost begins.
Conclusion
Do you realize President Trump not only holds the future of the Iran War in his hands, but the whole end of the world?
Trump is playing with the idea of when he might start the Second Signpost though he doesn’t even realize it.
God knows per His sovereign will when the Second Signpost begins. Trump may give the command to start it by attacking Iran’s energy, but it is per God’s timing.
The Second Signpost could begin this Thursday, or August 23, or September 16, or in November.
When the Second Signpost starts, the music stops and everyone must find a chair to sit in.
Keep watch.

Mark: Why don’t the Iranians agree to everything Trump wants and reopen the Straight and once the aircraft carriers are gone re-close it?
Karl,
That would make sense. But I’m sure the regime has its reasons.
If the Iranians unilaterally open the Strait, without fees, the world will sigh with relief. Shipping will resume but not yet at large. Then mines from the Strait will be cleaned away ASAP and shipping will ramp up quickly after that. Strategic Oil & Fuel reserves will be refilled worldwide, keeping fuel prices uncomfortably high, but not catastrophic, and everyone will know the prices will be down again in a year or so.
Middle East War, collapse of currencies and stocks exchanges and worldwide panic will not happen any time soon, so everyone can start concentrate on dealing with Ebola and helping regions going to be hit by El Nino. And helping Ukraine and Taiwan.
New pipelines avoiding the Strait wil be built with maximum priority.
The US and the Gulf states will race to develop and mass-produce drone and anti-drone and anti-missile weapons with expertise from Ukraine and the US, respectively.
Europe, Israel, Ukraine and Taiwan will be allowed to buy more of all these than they get now.
And If at some future moment the IRGC thinks about conquering the Middle East, it will find that the one and only Big Moment for that is long gone by, because everyone around them will be prepared against them very well indeed.
The IRGC people are fanatical, but not stupid. They know all of this much better than I wrote above.
Only if our mighty Father In Heaven decides that there is to be a break, He can make them give in for now. In this case, if the signpost theory is correct, the IRGC some day will get a new and much batter opportunity, but that may take a very long time.
Dear Mark
thank you for your daily updates they are so helpful and informative.
Given the nature of the War so far with Iran’s attacks coming from launching from home soil mainly drones and missiles (apart from the Proxies acting overseas) where no physical movement of the IRGC outside of Iran is required.
could this mean then, that Dan 8:4 could be interpreted as rather than Iran ‘ charged’ to conquer, it does this by threat, missile arracks etc where action by invading neighbours is not required as they will submit to Iran without need of invasion. Some translations don’t use these terms of charging just conquering which they can do as mentioned above.

Hi Brian,
I believe a physical boots-on-the-ground invasion is needed by Iran, for in Daniel 8:4 it says the Ram got to do all it wants to do. The regime wants to conquer and unite all Muslim nations in the Middle East, to make one single Twelver Shia empire community, to wait for the Mahdi (our Antichrist). It can’t do that without an invasion, unless all Arab Sunni nations in the region just surrender, apply to join Iran, and change their religion to Twelver Shia, coming under the religious jurisdiction of the supreme leader. And that’s not likely. Remember to include all the passages and words of Scripture that apply to the Second Signpost.
Nelson Walters and his colleagues Fisherman and Counting from Caleb believe that Daniel’s seventieth week started with the covenant of the many in October 2024 (this was a major step in the strengthening and implementation of the Abraham Accords agreement and the consequence of the division of Israel)
This makes the Abomination date April 2028 which is just 20 months away. Douglas Hamp thinks the Gog Magog War starts here and ends at Armageddon in 2031 (Nelson thinks rapture October 2030 after 6th seal and before the last years wrath)
This short time scale of 20 months would possibly fit with the notion that the Temple as a building won’t be rebuilt but more importantly the sacrifices have started (with perhaps a tabernacle but in any case the sacrifices perhaps provoke outrage and the Gog Magog invasion)
This 20 months was one of the reasons why I was examining the possibility of a missile blackmail threat rather than a more kinetic mobile forces to achieve their goals.
The ME answer to Iran via Turkey and Arab Allies could be strategic nuclear with the ‘blessing’ of the US and possibly a decapitation strike which might be enough to bring Iran to a halt and regime change and thus permit Iran to join in the Gog Magog invasion of Israel.
Hi Brian,
People including myself, believe what they will believe. In the end, we won’t know for certainty what the straight story is until we see things play out.
One important factor in interpreting Scripture, is to follow what it actually says (and I don’t mean one or two verses – I mean ALL of it because all the pieces fit together), versus applying an interpretation because we yearn to see things fulfilled.
All that said and as for me, you could probably guess where I stand. The prince who will come, who came from the tribe that destroyed the temple in AD 70, will strengthen a covenant (suggesting it being already in existence) with many, has not happened because the prince hasn’t appeared yet.
Bottom line is, we have plenty of time. And also bottom line, when we force an interpretation that the Bible doesn’t say, other things break as things unfold.
