(4 November 2026) The US midterm election last night saw the Democrat party in the USA make great advancements in Congress, winning a majority in both houses.
And yet, why did they win, and not only win, but win overwhelmingly?
I don’t believe it was because American voters thought that they wanted open borders again, and wanted most of the policies that were in practice during the Biden administration. After all, that is why Trump and the Republicans won in 2024.
No, I believe American voters thought the Iran War was a mistake, they didn’t want higher fuel prices and therefore higher inflation all around, and at the least they wanted no new wars. From everything I’ve seen, many Republican voters were angry and retaliated.
Iran Won
Now, I still believe that Iran goaded the US and Israel into attacking them, as I wrote about in this post.
If the Persian Ram wants to run out but the US military is in the way, you could goad them into attacking you, but plan for asymmetrical warfare such that you knew the enemies weapons could not harm you. So the Iranians buried their missiles and installations.
Perhaps the Iranian regime’s plans run a little further then simply defeating the US on the battlefield. What if they knew that if they could hold on, keep the Strait closed, and therefore drain the stores of oil around the world, that people around the world, in particular Americans, would react with anger?
If that really is the case, then we can say the Iranian regime actually won the midterm election. In summary, this is so if (1) they goaded the US into attacking them, (2) they knew their buried weaponry would survive, (3) they knew they could drain the world’s oil and raise prices by keeping the Strait closed, and (4) they knew these conditions would cause problems for Trump in the 2026 election.
I think what surprised them and all of us is how big those problems became.
Conclusion
So now Trump is between a rock and a hard place.
Trump has until January 3 before he gets impeached and possibly removed from office, as well as some of his cabinet members like Hegseth.
Trump has been humiliated both internationally by Iran, and domestically by an election.
What will he do? Someone with a big ego who cannot accept defeat and/or humiliation might just double down, hoping to win big, and so restart the war with Iran. Or, another person might simply do nothing and wait for the inevitable.
The Second Signpost won’t be done yet if nothing happens by January 3.
The US could easily have a change in policy with the new Congress, the US retreats and goes home, and then the Persian Ram is free to do what it wants to do without any interference . . .
