Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad gave his eighth and last speech to the General Assembly of the U.N. on Wednesday, September 26, 2012. Each year as president he has visited the U.N. in September to give a speech. This is his eighth and last speech because this is his eighth and last year as president of Iran, per the current Iranian constitution. In all of his speeches Ahmadinejad has been talking about the coming of Al-Mahdi (who is our Antichrist), and of “Jesus Christ” (who is our False Prophet). (For more information on these comparisons check out Joel Richardson’s book Islamic Antichrist.)
Ahmadinejad is a Twelver Shia who believes that there needs to be war and chaos to allow Imam Al-Mahdi (who is our Antichrist) to appear who will bring peace and justice to the world (peace and justice only if you are a Muslim male). He also believes that it is the mission of Iran to start a great war and the required chaos to trigger the Al-Mahdi’s coming. Astonishingly, the Second Signpost prophesied by Daniel confirms that in reality this war is coming (see Chapter 10 of my book Hidden In Plain Sight: The Signposts of the Coming of the Antichrist Revealed). It will be a massive war started by Iran, where Iran conquers much of the Middle East. Ahmadinejad’s eight speeches have been talking about this all along in a subtle way, using the language consistent with his own beliefs.
This coming great war and chaos in the Middle East is actually prophesied in the Bible, in Daniel 7:5 and 8:4, and is the Second of the Four Signposts, which must precede the appearance of Antichrist, as I write about in my own book, Hidden In Plain Sight. I call these events “Signposts” because that is indeed what they are, showing us where we are in the seasons prior to Christ’s glorious and visible return.
Ahmadinejad’s eight annual speeches (from 2005 to 2012) have in a subtle way been telling us and warning us about the coming of the Second Signpost. As I was reading the text of Ahmadinejad’s last speech, what he said at the end made me seriously take notice. In addition to his usual “Al-Mahdi is coming” theme, I believe that Ahmadinejad, in essence, is now giving us confirmation that the Second Signpost is going to be starting soon. Let me explain.
Now, to someone who doesn’t know about the Four Signposts, Ahmadinejad’s eight speeches seem to be nothing more than rambling on about some fantasy where world peace will come about by a savior, which is the product of delusions of an overly zealous mind. Who makes speeches like these before the entire world as a head of state, except Ahmadinejad? Well, who but Ahmadinejad has been prepared by our Lord to be the one to kick off the Second Signpost and the coming of the Antichrist?
All eight of Ahmadinejad’s speeches follow the same structure. He starts by praying for the coming of Al-Mahdi, then he talks about the injustices in the world and how people want peace and justice, and then he says that the only way justice and peace can come is via Al-Mahdi, the Savior, the perfect human being. Who indeed among the heads of states in this world talks like this? What other nation but Iran is called out in Daniel to begin the chaos that will indeed ultimately bring about the Antichrist, Al-Mahdi?
I decided to have some fun, in a way. What follows is a “medley” that I pieced together using quotes from Ahmadinejad’s speeches, to function as a compendium of Ahmadinejad’s eight-year-long message. Key sentences that are similar to each other in subject are chosen from across the various speeches, placed together in a logic flow consistent with all of his speeches, and referenced by specific speech in brackets. The eight referenced speeches are hyperlinked at the end of this article to allow the reader to more closely examine each speech. Pay special attention to the last paragraph. I underlined the parts that made me take notice.

“Oh God, hasten the arrival of Imam Al-Mahdi and grant him good health and victory and make us his followers and those who attest to his rightfulness.” [Ref 3,4,5,6,7] “Oh, God, Hasten the Emergence of Your Chosen Beloved, Grant Him Good Health and Victory, Make us His Best Companions, and all those who attest to His Rightfulness.” [Ref 8]
“It is evident that the future of the world is intertwined with its current state and the prevailing trends, which exhibit signs of hope and despair.” [Ref 1] “Today, humanity passionately craves commitment to the Truth, devotion to God, quest for Justice and respect for the dignity of human beings.” [Ref 2] “Great developments in favor of humankind as well as its true and real rights are on the way.” [Ref 4]
“Faith will prove to be the solution to many of today’s problems.” [Ref 1] “The tender-hearted and humanity-loving governments will replace the aggressive and domineering ones. Human dignity will be regained. The pleasing aroma of justice will permeate the world, and people will live together in a brotherly and affectionate manner. Striving in this way to surrender rule to the righteous and Perfect Human, the Promised One, is indeed the final cure for the wounds of humanity, the solution of all problems, and the establishment of love, beauty, justice and a dignified life all over the world.” [Ref 3] “The arrival of the Ultimate Savior will mark a new beginning, a rebirth and a resurrection. It will be the beginning of peace, lasting security and genuine life.” [Ref 8]
“The creation of a supreme and ideal society with the arrival of a perfect human being who is a true and sincere lover of all human beings, is the guaranteed promise of Allah.” [Ref 7] “The Almighty God has not left us alone in this mission and has said that it will surely happen. If it doesn’t, then it will be contradictory to his wisdom.” [Ref 8] “Without any doubt, the Promised One who is the ultimate Savior, together with Jesus Christ and other holy Saviors, will come. In the company of all believers, justice-seekers and benefactors, he will establish a bright future and fill the world with justice and beauty. This is the promise of God; therefore it will be fulfilled.” [Ref 3]
“The Almighty changes the fate of no people unless they themselves show a will for change. (Holy Quran, 13:11). How can we influence the future of the world?” [Ref 1] “All of us can contribute to the establishment of such a world.” [Ref 1] “Dear friends, In waiting for that brilliant time to come and in a collective commitment, let’s make due contributions in paving the grounds and preparing the conditions for building that bright future.” [Ref 5] “Let’s play a part in the fulfillment of all this glory and beauty.” [Ref 3]
“Our great nation stands ready to join hands with other nations to march on this beautiful path in harmony and in line with the shared aspirations of mankind.” [Ref 7] “As the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, I assure you that my country will use everything in its power to contribute to global tranquility and peace based on the two maxims of spirituality and justice as well as the equal rights of all peoples and nations.” [Ref 1]
“The arrival of the Ultimate Savior, Jesus Christ and the Righteous will bring about an eternally bright future for mankind, not by force or waging wars but through thought awakening and developing kindness in everyone. Their arrival will breathe a new life in the cold and frozen body of the world. He will bless humanity with a spring that puts an end to our winter of ignorance, poverty and war with the tidings of a season of blooming. Now we can sense the sweet scent and the soulful breeze of the spring, a spring that has just begun and doesn’t belong to a specific race, ethnicity, nation or a region, a spring that will soon reach all the territories in Asia, Europe, Africa and the US. He will be the spring of all the justice-seekers, freedom-lovers and the followers of heavenly prophets. He will be the spring of humanity and the greenery of all ages. Let us join hands and clear the way for his eventual arrival with empathy and cooperation, in harmony and unity. Let us march on this path to salvation for the thirsty souls of humanity to taste immortal joy and grace. Long live this spring, long live this spring and long live this spring.” [Ref 8] (Emphasis mine)

Amazing, isn’t it? You can’t make up this stuff. I believe it is evident from the text I assembled above from the speeches, that Ahmadinejad sees Iran as a major contributor to the coming of Al-Mahdi. And from Daniel 7:3 and 8:4, which specifies the Second Signpost, Iran’s contribution will be in the form of starting war and chaos. Ahmadinejad has been advertising the Second Signpost for the last eight years, but by the world’s understanding it has been missed. Indeed, he spoke not only of the Second Signpost, but of the Tribulation itself when he talked about a spring that will soon reach all the territories on other continents. These speeches have been pep talks for those in Iran that share his beliefs, to execute what turns out will be the Second Signpost. But these speeches are a warning for the rest of the world that the Second Signpost will happen.
Now, with this eighth and last speech, do we have a hint of timing? He spoke of a “spring.” It is a spring of new life into the winter of this world. A spring that will spread, and a spring brought about by Al-Mahdi. He invites all to join hands and to march. And he declares three times “long live this spring.” By “this spring” he refers to the reign of Al-Mahdi. But I can’t help but wonder if it might also literally be “this spring,” as in this next spring on the calendar, Spring 2013 when he sets it off. He didn’t say “the spring” in his three-fold cheer at the end, he said “this spring.”
Ahmadinejad must step down as President of Iran in August 2013. If he is to be the one to start the Second Signpost and be the taller horn that grew up last (in Daniel 8:3), it will probably be before August 2013. Between now and August 2013 there is only one spring remaining. Couple this development with the answer he gave in an interview recently and it seems he might make his attempt this coming year. Also couple this with the fact that major wars in the Middle East usually begin in the spring.
The Second Signpost will arrive. If not in Spring 2013 then it will be some other time. If not by Ahmadinejad then by someone else. Daniel 7:5 and 8:4 says it will happen. But I believe we have a hint that it might be as early as this coming spring.

Excellent post Mark! I am very impressed with your book – having just finished it. I now need to re-read it. I am convinced your scenario makes sense and so many queries I’ve had are now answered. Thank you and God bless you and your work.
I too see that the Mahdi will be Antichrist, but Iran ‘cannot help him to come’ as that is all in the timing of God.
There are a couple of reasons why he won’t appear until 2030 or later.
1. Enoch to the flood – do the maths.
2. Jesus’ resurrection early on the morning of the third day, and a day as a thousand years – do the maths.
Hi Paul. You bring up a couple good points here.
The First is the matter of timing. As I say in the book and on this site, I don’t make any declaration on when Mahdi will appear. It could be 10, 20, 30 years from now, or more. The Signposts are to tell us what season we are in. And Mahdi won’t start to emerge until late in the Fourth and last Signpost. So when you say 2030 or later, that is very consistent with this message.
Secondly, true, no man really on his own can make things happen; its all controlled by God. But God can use people to make His will happen. Remember Pharoah in Exodus – God used him to bring about the ten plagues to show God’s power. President George W Bush, for instance, was used by God to cause the lion with wings to stand up in the First Signpost. At one point he even thought God was telling him to remove Saddam. And God will use Ahmadinejad or someone else to start this massive war by Iran. It so happens it will start a chain of events leading to Mahdi. As far as Ahmadinejad thinking Iran has to help bring about Mahdi with war, thats the man whom God prepared for this moment, thinking the things he needs to think of, before he acts – but its all in God’s plan.

I am astonished as I contemplate this out of Hosea and 2 Peter:
Hosea 5:15 I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me earnestly.
6:1 Come, and let us return unto Jehovah; for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.
6:2 After two days will he revive us: on the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live before him.
2 Peter 3:8
But forget not this one thing, beloved, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
Brethren: Could it be any clearer? Are these passages not saying that the Lord Jesus will return to earth after two thousand years?
Now, I’m not date setting, nor do I know the “day or hour”: but doesn’t it make sense that since the Scriptures prophesied the timing of the 1st Coming; why not the 2nd?
This being said: we could only have approximately 12-19 years left, and the Signpost events leading up to the Lord’s Return could fit into this time frame.
James,
Your comment reminds me of two things.
First, just as Joel Richardson’s work revealing an Islamic Antichrist was a view needed to open up and reveal the Four Signposts, the Four signposts, in turn will, I am sure, open up even more prophecy.
Second, the timing thing is interesting. I, too, have come to the conclusion that the church has it wrong again – its not that Jesus will return 2,000 years from His birth, but from His death and resurrection. You’ve shown confirmation.
Good job.
MD
James, I for one believe you have it right. As an update to my first post, I’ll spell it out a bit more:
1. Gen 5:21-27 Enoch begat Methuselah at age 65, he was taken up at 365. Methuselah lived another 669 years before the physical flood. Jesus was the third to be taken up, so multiply 669×3 = 2007. Add 30 (taken up in AD30) and the start of the flood – of wickedness? (Dan 9:26 cf. Rev 12:15) = 2037.
2. Jesus was resurrected in AD30 (33?) at the start of the 3rd day so 1 day= 1 thousand years, He comes back at the start of the 1000 years (maybe not to the day or year) so = 2030 or later.
Just a couple of thoughts.
It’s interesting tht this topic is coming up. In my most recent post I make a case that Jesus was talking about the events in the Four Signposts, in Matthew chapter 24. Jesus said that “all of these things” which includes the Four Signposts, Tribualtion and Christ’s Return will happen within one generation. The First Signpost began in 1979. One generation easily covers 1979 to 2030 or so. But again, I for one won’t hang my hat on a date, but the various related Bible passages are consistent.
