The Third Signpost can seem like it is a long way into the future since we are still waiting for the Second Signpost to begin. And yet keep in mind that the Third Signpost could begin just begin in a few years or even months after that.
As I was thinking about this, suddenly a goat with a prominent horn between his eyes came from the west, crossing the whole earth without touching the ground. (Daniel 8:5 NIV)
The Third Signpost, as written about in my book Hidden In Plain Sight, begins with the charge of the goat, where the one great horn is the first king, or leader. If the horn at that time is a politician in Turkey in power today, I suggested before it would be Turkish prime minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan (pronounced red-chep tajip aerdo-an). Of course the horn could end up being anyone, but of known candidates for this prophetic position Erdoğan is in the lead.
In this post I suggested the reasons why the horn of the goat could be Erdoğan. Regarding the possibility of his being able to work out a peace deal with the Kurds and benefitting politically from that, I wrote “Wouldn’t that also be quite a feather in his cap…”
In this article from Al-Monitor we see a good article on the situation with the Kurdish people in Turkey. Erdoğan’s heavy-handed handling of the Gezi Park demonstrations did cost him some political ground. But he still hasn’t quite worked out the peace plan with the Kurds. Indeed if he managed to successfully have peace with the Kurds, Erdoğan’s image with voters might be restored, and events at Gezi Park might be forgotten by some.

Could an emerging independant Kurdistan be the beginning of the little horn that plucks out three other horns? Numerous authors have proposed that the Antichrist will come from northern Iraq.
John,
Good question. It is entirely possible that the Antichrist would emerge from the area of Kurdistan, though not from a political entity of Kurdistan. In my book I do not dispute this idea.
However, my book says that the Antichrist will arise from the new northwest nation of the four nations after the Confederacy falls apart. The text of Daniel lends to this idea. And the Antichrist will be Syrian/Assyrian. That could be Syria or Kurdistan. But it will all be part of the northwest new nation which also will cover Turkey.
The only chance Kurdistan itself has to be independent is prior to the Second Signpost, which is not too far away.
