Hamas, based in Gaza, launched a rocket attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, hitting the territories in southern Israel, near Gaza (see map). At the same time, Hamas militants breached the border wall with Israel and went on a rampage in the streets. Reports said at least 700 were killed.

While many could think this is just yet another attack on Israel by one of the many Islamist militias surrounding Israel, it is also one of the most ferocious attacks on Israel since the Yom Kippur War that started 50 years ago.
The Signpost Perspective
From the Signpost perspective, we can look a little deeper into the meaning of this incursion by Hamas. Now, we know from the Signpost theory of Bible interpretation that the Second Signpost is next. There are also reasons (explained in this post and this post) to believe the Psalm 83 war would occur at the same time, in order to pin Israeli forces down allowing the IRGC to invade and occupy Muslim nations. Hamas would correspond to Philistia in the list of peoples attacking in Psalm 83:5–8.
The following is a short list of possibilities, listed from least dangerous to more dangerous.
1) First, Hamas acted independently. This was possible but not likely as the IRGC funds and controls all militant groups in the region. I was thinking this, and then confirmation came from the following report from the Wall Street Journal stating that, “Iranian security officials helped plan Hamas’s Saturday surprise attack on Israel and gave the green light for the assault at a meeting in Beirut last Monday.” So, no.
2) Second, the IRGC is using Hamas as a test of Israel’s intelligence, resolve, and readiness. This is more likely. It would also be a test to see if militants trained by the IRGC acted per their direction, and it would be a test of the newest rockets and maneuvers.
3) Lastly, the IRGC is using Hamas as the opening salvo for the Second Signpost itself, and Psalm 83 war. In other words, these would be starting very shortly.
Conclusion
The third possibility is the most ominous and dangerous to the world. It is my belief the second possibility is true. However, time may tell shortly if I am wrong.
Keep watch and pray. Get yourselves ready. The Second Signpost spelled out in Daniel Revisited is still coming regardless of when.
I’ll post again very soon here, but the timing of this incursion is interesting as I have come under the belief for various reasons that we are very close, and God is allowing the Signpost message to be unleashed, now.

#3 seems more likely. The response from Israel will be to obliterate Hamas to dust particles. The complete cleansing of Hamas from the region…GONE. Iran can’t allow that as that would mean the removal of it’s forward position on the Israel border.

With regard to the psalm 83 some commentators list the Hagrenes as Egyptians and Ishmaelites as Saudis.
Recently we have seen world events amazingly turning towards the Ezekiel 38 scenario with Egypt and now Saudi turning neutral however the above Psalm 83 interpretation would seemingly contradict this.
Any comments please .

Yes, Ishmaelites would be the Arabians, but could be sprinkled elsewhere as the Arab tribe known as Quraysh intermarried with many peoples in the region.
“Seeming” contradiction, well said. Keep in mind that Hagar’s descendants are also Ishmaelites.
And also, dig in a little more and you’ll see there is no mention of the Egyptian peoples directly (which would include Mizraim) in Ezekiel 38. In chapter 12 of Daniel Revisited I make the case that the reason the Egyptians are not mentioned is that they were conquered by the AC in the Fourth Signpost as one of t he three horns that are uprooted, and so in Ezekiel 38 are part of “your armies.” Note that Ezekiel 38 does not mention by name any armies from Turkey or Arabia as well – those are the AC’s armies.

Mark, Really think this could be a diversion for Iran to begin an invasion on the basis in Iraq.

Your proposal is a parallel thread of the whole theme of the Psalm 83 war being a diversion for Israel, to keep Israel from bothering Iran doing the Second Signpost.
And if you are right the Second Signpost is likely days, or at most weeks, away.

Mark, you know Kedar and Hazor are in Psalm 83, and Jeremiah ch50-51 come after 49 which have prophecies about Babylon.

Could the ram’s charge to the south in Daniel 8:4 not only be into countries to the south but also taking control of the Persian Gulf and Red Sea?

Yes, absolutely. South could include the entire Arabian Peninsula, as I wrote about in chapter 10 of Daniel Revisited, for those who may not know.
And so per your question, the IRGC/Ram then could have drones and missiles poised to hit anything off of the coasts of the Persian Gulf and Red Sea. I’m willing to bet the IRGC already has the Persian Gulf completely covered.
Thanks for your reply, Mark! I have really enjoyed Daniel Revisited and just gave it to a friend yesterday. I guess my confusion over the seas is that it seems like the ram is attacking but mostly by proxy (training Hamas for their attack, providing rockets to Hezbollah, rockets/drones to the Houthi). Not they might not try an actual invasion soon, especially if the US gets distracted.

Glad that you liked it. Keep in mind, we will know when the actual invasion of the ram charging occurs when the conditions of Daniel 7:5 (like a bear wandering from country to country causing chaos and killing and mauling), Daniel 8:4 (the regime will get to do all it wants which is to cause war and killing to bring out the Mahdi and to bring their 1979 revolution to as many muslim countries as it can), and Revelation 6:4 (slaying violently in the one fourth of the earth, and peace of mind taken from the rest of the earth, i.e, the oil) all occur.
