A “Small” Event Actually Huge: Psalm 83:3–8 Being Fulfilled Now?

If one does not know the Four Signposts as written about in Daniel Revisited, one can mistake Mideast events that have little significance prophetically, as big events. And vice versa.

We witnessed this two weeks ago: a relatively small event on October 18 was mistaken by many as an event of huge significance.

One week later, we witnessed the inverse. On October 25, a relatively significant event was dismissed by many as minor. That event is the subject of this post.

A Meeting of Leaders

Reuters reported a meeting between leaders that took place in Lebanon last week. So what’s the big deal about a meeting of leaders? It turns out the report photo below of the leaders in their meeting is a reading right out of Psalm 83.

The three chief commanders of their respective Islamist militias meet in Beirut on October 25, 2023. (Hezbollah media office)

This ‘minor’ event is actually very significant in that we may be witnessing the fulfillment of Psalm 83:3-8 right in front of our eyes!

(Those who are familiar with my writing and style know that I do not write such words lightly.)

Psalm 83 War and the Second Signpost

In this post and this post (with a map) written several years ago, I proposed that the Psalm 83 war would be fulfilled at the same time as the Second Signpost. That is, while the IRGC is marching out across Muslim nations in the Middle East and causing chaos and revolution, the militias of peoples immediately surrounding Israel would keep her occupied to allow Iran to run uninhibited across the Muslim nations.

The Name of Israel to be Erased

The goals of the Iranian regime (the name of Israel, “must be eliminated from the pages of history” . . .”) are the same as the goals of the enemies of Israel in Psalm 83:4 (“let us destroy them as a nation, that the name of Israel be remembered no more” NIV).

Now, the IRGC is well known to fund, supply and train the militant groups surrounding Israel, and all have allied themselves to Iran and Iran’s goal. In addition, of all the militant groups Hezbollah—which is Shia Muslim like the regime of Iran—is like a little IRGC itself.

The meeting pictured took place in Hezbollah’s offices in Beirut.

The Leaders of the Peoples

Moving on to the labeled photo below, note the three seated men talking with one another. They are meeting with one another, as the news story title itself says, “Hezbollah, Hamas and Islamic Jihad leaders discuss how to achieve ‘victory’.”

The many indicators of Psalm 83:3-8 fulfillment.

On the wall above and behind the men are the portraits of the two supreme leaders of Iran.

It was supreme leader Khomenei who was quoted in the link above saying that the name of Israel must be erased.

Those three leaders are the heads of three of the largest Islamic militant groups surrounding Israel, and they all met under the auspices of Iran. (“With cunning they conspire against your people.” Ps. 83:3 NIV)

They represent the majority of the peoples listed in Psalm 83:6–8.

Representing Amalek and Philistia, the man on the far left is Saleh al-Arouri, the commander of the Izz_ad-Din_al-Qassam_Brigades, based out of the West Bank and Gaza. Representing the Hagrites, Ammon and Assyria, the man seated in the center is Ziyad al-Nakhalah, the commander of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) made up of militias among the Palestinian peoples, but also based in Damascus, Syria. Finally, on the right representing Gebal and Tyre, is Hassan Nasrallah, the commander of Hezbollah based out of Beirut.

The Ishmaelites are represented as they are all historically intermarried with the Arabs from the Arabian Peninsula, who were the original tribal Muslims from the region the Ishmaelites settled. The only peoples not directly represented are Edom, and Moab. However, the Palestinians also live among those peoples in those areas, which are the western third of the country of Jordan.

Conclusion

To me, this news story and the photo are nothing short of amazing. Do you realize we are likely witnessing the fulfillment of Psalm 83:3-8?

The Reuters news service splashed on the news this meeting of the enemies of Israel conspiring to erase her name, and is right out of Psalm 83.

If the first half of Psalm 83 is being fulfilled directly in front of our eyes, the second half, which will take place concurrently with the Second Signpost itself, cannot be very far away. According to Psalm 83, the world will witness God working mightily for Israel by the end of the Psalm 83 war.

Just as we saw a minor event recently blown up out of proportion by people, people miss things again by assigning a “ho-hum” to a meeting of some leaders in Beirut which is actually fulfilling Scripture.

Due only to God’s grace and privilege, I witnessed the fulfillment of Scripture in Daniel 7:4 back in 2003. When the Second Signpost finally breaks forth in all of its unmitigated chaos, misery, bloodshed and woe, you all will witness the fulfillment of Daniel 7:5, and Daniel 8:4.

Be watchful. Be prepared. Test your hearts and pull down your idols. God bless you all.

  1. Very interesting and remarkable insight, Mark.

No nation has been conspired against so often by her enemies as Israel. Perhaps no city in history has suffered so much recurring destruction from time to time as Jeruslaem.

I recorded the song for this music video back in 2012, then put it in storage, feeling it wasn’t a good time to publish it. But very recently I remembered it and decided to compose the video to accompany: Based on Psalm 122.6.

  2. Mark, Edom is represented through Amalek. (Gen 36:1-12). In Ezekiel 25:12-17, YHVH speaks of His fury being unleashed on both Edom and on Philistia because they both have historically and persistently dealt vengefully against Israel hatefully and spitefully, and that He would use Israel in doing this. Jesus is the LORD of Armies/Hosts!

As the world tells Israel to stop this just war against an openly implacable enemy, and to avoid a breakout of a wider war, I have said, “What if God wants the war to go on and also to become a regional war?”, with Ezek 25 and Ps 83 in mind. I don’t know, but the current war against Hamas and Islamic Jihad in Gaza is moving us closer to that prophesied war which will cause many Muslims to know that YHVH is God Most High. There is no other god equal to Him, and certainly not greater than He!

May many Jews and Arabs, and others, seek HIS kingdom and HIS righteousness and justice, that they may be saved. I believe that this war will be used by God towards a Holy Spirit revival within the Body of Christ, and to bring in many more into the Father’s house.

  3. Thanks for that Mark for conveying knowledge that the world’s population are able to find in very few places like your own .

  4. I’m thinking the obliteration of Damascus is the next big thing but maybe it’s related to Psalm 83

  5. Shalom Mark,
I very appreciate your article as I, like many others have been wondering if the Psalm 83 war is on the horizon. I’m aware that a number of leaders have said that it’s already taken place, but what has impressed me is the non player Egypt – Mitzraim. Egypt has warred against Israel in all of Israels 3 main wars, but is not part of the Psalm 83 war implying that the Psalm 83 war hasn’t taken place since Israel was re-established in 1948.
Ammon, Moab and Edom however are part of the Psalm 83 war, wouldn’t that mean that modern day Jordan would have to be a player in that war? It does seem that the attitudes of King Abdullah 11 and Queen Rania are changing toward Israel and certainly the Palestinian people in Jordan are stirred up against Israel.

  6. Hi Judith,
Regarding Jordan, Psalm 83 refers to the peoples of the three ancestors. It doesn’t need to be Jordan politically.
Along these lines, Howard commented that Edom is included automatically due to Genesis 36:12.
Also, I posted about Egypt and how the Psalm 83 war has not been fulfilled here. Keep in mind, too. during this time Egypt will likely be tagging up with Turkey getting ready to strike back in the Third Signpost.

  7. Thank you Mark for this excellent follow-on to my coverage. Have re-blogged with link and extract from your intro for sake of my newer readers > https://richards-watch.org/2023/11/07/bible-update-is-a-small-yet-huge-event-part-of-psalm-83s-fulfillment/

  8. The first signpost, during which Iraq invaded Iran, threw Iran into a defensive mode. During that long war the newly-formed Republic of Iran recovered territory lost and shifted into the offensive mode necessary for fulfilling Bible prophecies. After that war, Iran began shifting its arsenal of weaponry from foreign-made to home-made, constantly improving capabilities until even Russia began buying Iranian drones. Daniel 8:4 indicates that when actual Iranian forces invade Muslim countries they will be 100% successful. But God knew that Iran would instead choose to attack Israel through proxies. According to Psalm 83, Iran’s proxies will be 0% successful. Such a huge defeat will shame Iran into doing what God said they would do, invade Muslim countries. Those invaded will learn how wicked Shia Islam can be, and they will look for salvation beyond the limits of Islam. They will discover that the Quran misrepresents who Jesus is.

Knowing that Bahrain, an island country in the Persian Gulf, is in Iran’s crosshairs, I am praying for the Bahraini people. In 2023 a concert in Bahrain by André Rieu’s Johann Strauss Orchestra was prophetic when the Bahrain Police Pipes and Drums joined the orchestra in playing “Amazing Grace.” God saw to it that that entire concert experience would be posted on YouTube for all the world to see, and in six months it has had nearly six million views.

  9. Re Iraq-Iran war of 1980, you may like to note what the Lord showed me, as a not-yet believer!

As a part-time editor/publisher in New Age I was well placed in the mid-1980s for a friend who ran a mail-order book business giving me a new book on geopolitics, ‘The Invisible Hand’ by Victor Dunstan, published by his Megiddo Press (1984).

This gift claimed the Bible held coded and plain-text details of prophecies relating to the British Mandate in Palestine, as well as giving historical details of the Mandate.

Whilst watching a BBC documentary about the current Iraq-Iran war I happened to casually flick through the book and noticed many references to the significance of Jerusalem.

So you can imagine my absolute amazement upon hearing the TV narrator describing footage being shown of “Elite units from opposing forces are rehearsing an attack upon Jerusalem“ – despite being at war with one another they’d united to rehearse the ‘liberation’ of Jerusalem!!

So I looked and watched at what claimed to be a video of such an attack – my jaw dropped! Wouldn’t yours?

Definitely a book to be taken seriously; it grabbed and got my full attention!

  10. Derek Walker OBC believes that Psalm 83 started in 1948, hence the mention of Egypt and the Saudis amongst the list of tribes, who have been participants in some of the earlier conflicts.
Of course this leaves the question: will there be a war with Lebanon ? (as they have participants in the list ), so we could be starting to enter the scenarios leading to Ezek 38 War soon.
Sadly we might therefore soon see the use of nuclear which will probably serve as, dwelling securely in the Land the catalyst for the 7 year peace accord, pulling down the walls and the nuclear clearance and remedial action mentioned in other prophecies.

  11. Hi Brian,
Derek Walker (of the OBC) forgets two important points which pokes holes in his theory, with no disrespect intended.
First, Egypt is never mentioned in Psalm 83. If it was, it would be “Mizraim.”
Secondly, see my first post on this topic which discusses that in no war were the peoples unified to say “let us remove Israel from memory.” That happened only after Iran bought and trained all the peoples’ militias.
Keep in mind as well that the projections made by popular teaching talking about the 7-year peace accord is based on a knowledge of prophecy of Israel only, and is completely ignorant of the Signposts, as well as Muslim tradition. The “strengthen the covenant with many” won’t be with Israel, and will also not even be a peace accord.
Remember as a general rule, a hole or two that are logically derived, that go against a theory can take down that entire theory.

  12. Bible prophecy analyst Joel Richardson should be honored for having kicked open the door revealing Islam’s role in the endtimes. But he never outlined the stages of Islam’s rise to that role. He once made the ridiculous statement that if Iran invaded the Middle East, it would not fulfill any Bible prophecy! I am tired of interpreters who try to postpone all prophetic fulfillments until the last seven years of the endtimes. We are right now witnessing the fulfillment of Isaiah 60:18 concerning the destruction of Hamas, mentioned by name in the Hebrew text of that verse. The English translation of the Hebrew “hamas” is “violence.” God tricked Islamists, who, in complete ignorance of Isaiah 60:18, coined “Hamas” as the acronym for their mission of violently overthrowing the State of Israel.

    https://biblehub.com/interlinear/isaiah/60-18.htm

So far, Iran has used proxies like Hamas to invade or attack Israel. The end of Hamas violence will force Iran to act on its own against the to-them wimp nations of Islam. Such an invasion of them was prophesied in Daniel 8:4,20. Joel Richardson, you have been a friend to students of Bible prophecy. Don’t end up as a “has been.”

  13. Land –
I attribute the discovery of the “Antichrist as Muslim” theory of Bible prophecy interpretation to Joel. When I first started down this path asking God for wisdom back in 2001, Joel’s work on this theory was the first thing I encountered on the internet.
Now, in complex aerospace systems, if you change one node of logic or a requirement, it changes many other things in the system – the system must be reexamined and requirements elsewhere must be revised. Likewise, the AC changing from Roman to Muslim is HUGE and requires a complete re-interpretation of prophetic Scripture. That was the second leg of my journey ending up at the Signposts. (An example of all this is Daniel 8 and the little horn. If the AC is roman, the little horn could very well be taken as Antiochus IV, but with the AC as muslim, one must pay attention especially to verses 17 and 19 and one comes to realize that the little horn is the end-time AC himself and not Antiochus.)
Joel, like many others, did not realize that in a complicated system like the Bible, a Muslim AC changes everything. The old traditional and popular way of teaching is especially vulnerable to changing when one realizes so much teaching is based on assuming the AC is roman in the first place (see Appendix A in Daniel Revisited).
Land, you being “tired” of course stems from everyone having an Israel-only view of prophecy and not seeing the nations around Israel in prophecy. It amazes me still how sealed Daniel is to everyone. Its been unsealed and they need to open their eyes.
And all this blindness relegates Psalm 83 to some offhand saga rather than real prophecy. If one pays careful attention to the words of Scripture – as we must always do – Psalm 83 opens up as a parallel to the Second Signpost.
Regarding Joel, yes I saw his teaching video on Daniel and he took the logical extreme of his views which was Iran could run out just as the Second Signpost says it will, but by no means fulfills Daniel 7 or 8. I’ve been praying for Joel since that time.
The Lord has been showing me that the message is not to be made big just yet. The message of the Signposts will break out just before the Second Signpost begins. Right now, God is only allowing some to see the Signposts. The total worldwide might be 10,000. But when the Second Signpost occurs, everyone will want to know what in the world God is doing.
Be patient, brother, and thanks to you and all the 10,000 for watching on the wall with me. Remember Habakkuk 2:3 – “For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.”
