(1 August 2026) It is now 8 pm MST August 1, or, 2 AM GMT, August 2. We have been watching events centered on Iran and its regime, waiting for escalation of what looks to be the Second Signpost. We have been watching since February 28.
The Strait of Hormuz has been closed for 154 days.
I really don’t want to be the boy who cries, “Wolf!” But what do you do if we find ourselves where we were back on July 18?
In that post written as “ALERT ALERT” it was very possible Trump was going to have the US unleash attacks on Iran’s energy infrastructure. As you may know, Iran has for its part stated it will respond to such an attack by destroying the Arab oil infrastructure which really is the Second Signpost and all the awfulness that comes with it.
The Orders and Lack of Concern
The Cradle reports,
“Several sources indicate that the strikes, aimed at power plants and oil refineries, might occur this weekend but are expected to conclude before the US stock market opens on Monday, due to worries about US and global energy prices.”
Really!?!
This could be the start of the end of American hegemony, as well as global depression if Iran carries out its threat of retaliation, and sources say they are only concerned with energy prices in the market on Monday?
Conclusion
An attack by the US treated as trivially as making sure the market is in a better place by Monday, and we are pushing the first domino of the end times?
My Lord, this to me is astonishing. Just as the First Signpost started due to US administration bungling, I suppose a incredible lack of competence handling the situation here, and/or an incredible evil that might be working behind the scenes are needed to set the Second Signpost, and the Antichrist, and the Tribulation, in motion.
May God help us, and He will to those who pursue Him.

THE FOUR SIGNPOSTS 
Our previous discussion on Daniel 8 and 11 being in-mind, I look at the “covenant with death and Sheol” (Isa.) as being a spot of physical peace in the midst of trouble from Syria to the Caspian on a scale beyond that not seen since possibly the First World War.
All of this land will be a meat-grinder, save Israel perhaps. It could be Gaza will be quiet as well, but who knows.
I fear for the Baltics and my friends in Estonia. Not so much Scandinavia, but Finland is too close for comfort, too. The Finns will put up a fierce fight, and I’m glad she and Sweden are now in NATO.
Trump was right to insist other NATO states start paying up more than they have. He has done this, however, in a very in-your-face way, but perhaps that is what was needed.
Poland seems more than ready for war, and it’s no small irony she and Germany in the seemingly-inevitable conflict with Russia will be in lock-step with one another. I have a feeling Poland would go completely scorched-earth rather than let Russia take her over again, and so would at least half of Germany’s population (esp. in the east).
My mind keeps going back over and over again to how we in the West, and indeed the whole world, does not understand Islam. Even my very cursory never-Muslim knowledge of that faith shows me a way of spirituality incomprehensibly opposed in every way to not only the West, but even the “state-religion” of China and the governmental culture of Russia.
American Christianity does not do theocracy well. It best functions in a biblical way in such a way that it allows a stable framework wherein society can accept or reject Jesus the Messiah of its own free will and without coercion.
Thus, in her laws, the United States is at her best when the “civic space” (as I term it) is more of a quasi-Unitarian cultural framework, which I think is half the culture that founded our country in the first place.
The American-evangelical-Christian yearning is for an America that never existed until the WW2 vets came home from their fox-holes. Like the WW1 vets before them, they knew what suffering was and what it meant to be within inches of death on a daily basis. When those vets came home, all they wanted to do was have their families and go on with life and the proverbial white picket-fence.
Hence, Christianity asserted itself in American pop-culture in a way the country had never before seen. I think that even in 1945, the winds of generational change were coming in strong that would manifest fully in the 1960s going forward…for better and for worse.
In visual art, no-one represented the general culture better in the twenty years following WW2 than Jackson Pollock and Norman Rockwell. No two American artist-contemporaries were more different in everything about them. Rockwell’s work is timeless and hearkens back to “simpler” times, but Pollock’s work only “hit” because his career could not have been timed better to catch American anxiety over Russia and nuclear war.
If Pollock’s creative zenith had come ca. 1955 instead of ca. 1950, he might well have actually gone into obscurity. It is also interesting to note two events happening in 1955: the reforms of the liturgical calendar in the Roman Catholic Church that foreshadowed the liturgical reforms of 1970 and the coming of “rock”-music to American radio.
Thus, we see even as early as the late 1940s the start of the overt culture-war the “left” actually seems to have been winning since the ink dried on the battleship Missouri. I know the “left” aspect has roots going back perhaps hundred of years, but that is off-topic for here.
In 2018, hundreds of people in my midst and I were privy to a horrific personal tragedy. For me at least, it completely reset my mind in such a way I still measure time as “before” or “after” we lost the youngest victim of the Santa Fe shooting in Texas, the mother of whom continues to be a good friend.
Imagine, if such a thing is possible, the complete mind-reset of half the world following the Second World War. My father is still in possession of his 1947 set of Encyclopedia Britannica. Those books were put together by people, half of whom were old late Gilded-Age Victorians from the States plus a bunch of Edwardians among the younger folks, I’m sure, all of whom remember a time before the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand.
Contrast that old world to that of Woodstock.
1969 was in pop-culture a seminal year. It was the time of the Great Rural Purge on American television. Goodbye “Green Acres” and hello “All in the Family”… The creative world of Charles M. Schultz had its greatest popularity at this time, and our country (particularly the black community) was still reeling from the assassinations of Martin Luther King, Jr., Robert Kennedy, and Malcolm X. And of course, JFK.
On 22 November 1963, a malaise and darkness fell upon our land. Lee Harvey Oswald of his own free will murdered Jack Kennedy, but I am sure it was under direct inspiration and suggestion of the non-God members of the divine council, knowing the whirlwind such an act would plunge our country into.
Vietnam needs no going-over here… The civil-rights movement was inspired by the Holy Spirit, but MLK’s murder threw it for a loop, throwing the Black American community into its own depression and contributing to racial tension.
The spirit of the Plantation-owner is alive and well. The spirit of vengeance among racial minorities is a thing. And as much as conservative Christianity rules the Republican Party, Islam more and more rules the Democratic Party.
All of this and more has created Donald Trump. Twenty years ago, he was a TV-celeb real-estate tycoon from Queens. Now, he may well have a pivotal place in the setup of prophetic history, not understanding Islam and still fighting in a way the noble cause of World War 2 on Omaha Beach as well as the Cold War.
I could go on and on…
