(5 August 2026) It is now 10 pm MST August 5, or, 4 AM GMT, August 6. We have been watching events centered on Iran and its regime, waiting for escalation of what looks to be the Second Signpost. We have been watching since February 28.

The Strait of Hormuz has been closed for 158 days.

The news is rather quiet tonight, that is, for the region around Iran. Yes, a Saudi oil tanker in the Red Sea is on fire having bit hit by a missile, Iran is threatening to retaliate if the US attacks again, and there are rumblings of yet another US-Iran deal.

Impossibilities

Consider for a moment the Signpost theory timeline thus far, and the events that have occurred and seem poised to occur.

I’ve written before that the big Mideast Signpost events seem impossible, but that is to magnify the glory of our God as He is the one who determines the courses of the nations.

It’s as if God is making sure the events are showy and highly improbable in order to show the world He is God.

Before the First Signpost was announced in March 2003, it seemed to me impossible that Iraq’s government would change from the brutality of Saddam to a relatively “civilized” parliamentary democracy. And yet it did!

When the Iran War started and we had report after report early on of the US military demolishing the command structure, major facilities, it seemed that Iran was defeated and the Signpost framework was either wrong or delayed years or decades.

And yet, we saw the “impossibility” that Iran would hold out. And not only hold out, but continue to attack facilities and ships, and take control of the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran, the end time version of the Persian Empire, defeated the US (at least so far) which is the greatest military on earth? Impossible!

Next Impossibilities?

So what is next? Signpost theory says there are two impossible events coming up next.

The first is the impossibility of one-quarter of the world’s oil going away and thus fuel prices climbing maybe three- or four-fold. Seems impossible doesn’t it?

The idea that oil will become hard to get. The very idea that a nation would actually do such a thing. But those Twelver Shias won’t hesitate to do just that to bring their Mahdi. God prepared the beliefs of that sect to do just that. He arranged one-quarter of the world’s black blood to be easily in reach of Iran’s missiles.

What’s the next impossibility?

The very idea that the regime would still have armies and militia men to conquer and occupy many Muslim nations, possibly coming out of houses across the Middle East, or possibly emerging from their dug-in positions in the Zagros Mountains, after all the bombardment from the US, seems rather impossible doesn’t it?

And yet, is it?

We’ve seen two impossible things so far. Iraq’s government changed and Iran control the Strait.

Why not the next two impossible things?

Oh, and what’s the next impossible things after that? Turkey will end the Iranian regime, and not the US, or the Iranian people themselves?

Seems impossible. All of this is definitely Twilight Zone material.

Ah, but apparently that is the end times.

Of course, the whole unsaved world would scoff at the impossibility of the sky ripping open and the Lord God King of the universe coming down and out from his abode in the spiritual dimensions outside of our three dimensions.

Conclusion

So, an Iranian army taking the Middle East? To me, it doesn’t seem so impossible anymore.

And when our man-provided supplies dry up, food and meals will miraculously appear, if you are His. You don’t think the Lord would let us starve now, do you, or would you say something like that is impossible?

But remember what our Lord said, “Everything is possible for him who believes.” (Mark 9:23) And remember what the angel Gabriel told a certain young woman in Nazareth about another impossible thing: “Nothing is impossible with God.” (Luke 1:37)

As always, keep watch, and expect the impossible.
