(28 February 2026) We know from earlier news reports that Iran has begun missile strikes at US assets in other Mideast countries. As in any war, war begins when one party starts lobbing missiles or artillery at the other party.
This is how Saddam’s Iran-Iraq War started back in September 1980 by lobbing artillery shells at positions in Iranian territory.

As the strikes between the US military and Iran ramp up, this Fox news piece reports that Arab nations in the region—Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE—are now declaring their right to defend themselves since Iran struck US targets on their sovereign territory.
Other Arab nations not struck yet are declaring their solidarity with those nations attacked.
The Second and Third Signposts
This could be the first round of the great Sunni-Shia War, if this is the Second Signpost. Iran begins its attacks across the Middle East by attacking other nations’ bases and oil facilities with pinpoint accuracy. Then Iran’s IRGC and Basij run out taking those nations (the Second Signpost). And then Turkey and its three Sunni allies take all the territory back, defeating Shia Iran.
A Possible Order of Escalation
The war that President Trump started is already escalating. So what should we expect next?
The first step for the missile forces of Iran logically is to attack US military assets as we are already seeing. Destroying opposing forces has the highest priority.

We might expect attacks on US ships next. The USS Abraham Lincoln and USS Gerald Ford may very well become targets, as would destroyers and other ships in the region.
After that, we might expect Iran to attack all oil refineries and oil fields in the Middle East, as they did one time before. This would be to cause economic chaos, make the dollar fall due to loss of the petrodollar, and so possible freeze money immobilizing America’s war machine.

Then, we should expect the ground invasion of the Middle East by the IRGC and Basij.
Soon, the voice calling the Bear of Daniel 7 to get up and gorge itself (which is the Ram running out) will call. The call will go out after there would be no interference from the US.
