The Strait is Open . . . No, Wait, It’s Closed . . . No, It’s Open!

(26 June 2026) It is now 10 pm MST June 26, or, 4 AM GMT, June 27. We have been watching events centered on Iran and its regime, waiting for escalation of what looks to be the Second Signpost.

The Strait of Hormuz was closed solidly for 112 days. It has now been open for six days, more or less.

We are getting mixed signals about whether the Strait is indeed open or closed. The regime could very well be using all these issues (e.g. the uranium, reparations, etc.) as tricks to buy time for posturing for the next phase of the war.

Some physics humor here. Like Schrodinger’s cat in which we don’t know if the cat is dead or alive, we don’t know if Schrodinger’s Strait of Hormuz is open or closed.

Yesterday, everyone thought the Strait of Hormuz might be open. Then, the IRGC attacked a Singaporean cargo ship. Then, the US attacked positions in Iran, and supposedly the Strait is open.

During the last few days, fertilizer shipments have been sent through the Strait. Of course, this fertilizer is too late for the current growing season, but at least it’s available for next growing season.

Conclusion

At any given moment we can’t tell if the Strait is open or closed.

However, that is not the big picture. I believe it is only a red herring, i.e. a diversion. The big picture is the escalation to the second part of this Signpost. That would be the IRGC destroying the rest of the Arab oil infrastructure, and boots on the ground being sent out to conquer and occupy the Middle East Muslim nations.

Coming famine is still baked in.

Misery still besets the lives of millions in Southeast Asia.

Fuel shortages are still coming later this summer and fall.

Keep watch.

  1. Very soon, July 7th & 8th, the yearly NATO summit will be held at the Beştepe Presidential Compound (Külliye) in Ankara, Turkey.

Turkey is leveraging the war in Iran and the summit to position itself as a regional policy-maker and strategic partner. Turkey aims to present itself as a central player in regional security, not just a bridge between East and West.

Erdogan invited Qatar, Bahrain, UAE, and Kuwait to the NATO summit to emphasise Turkey’s central position between NATO and the Gulf states. The Gulf States though are historically cautious and unwilling to grant Turkey a leadership role in security, and have internal rivalries, like being more or less pro-Iran (e.g., Saudi Arabia vs. Qatar). And Israel (not invited) can only be Turkey’s partner if it embraces the two-state solution.

Turkey now has NATO’s second-largest army, only after the US. Its defence industry already annually produces a value of $20 billion of arms, with plans to invest $27 billion in 2026. Turkey is a regional powerhouse in drone technology and arms exports with more on the way: Trump hinted at favourable decisions for Turkey, such as approving the purchase of F-35 fighters and advanced jet engines.

Trump supports Turkey’s vision of regional leadership. He openly admires Erdogan, calling their bond a “bromance”. Trump emphasised attending the NATO summit only out of respect for Erdogan.

Mark already concluded before that the USA, through Trump, has an unexpected role in bringing the Second Signpost.
Now it seems Trump may even be furthering the Third Signpost…

  2. If the USA brought in the first Sign Post, and may have an unexpected role in the second and third Sign Post I wonder if the USA would have something to do with the FOURTH Sign Post.

  3. Trump:”It is very possible that they will never learn!”. I think it is Trump who will never learn. Christ rebuked Peter when Peter tried to stop bible prophecy.

  4. Karl,
My bet is the USA is done after the Second Signpost.
    And well said about Trump.
