(27 June 2026) It is now 10 pm MST June 27, or, 4 AM GMT, June 28. We have been watching events centered on Iran and its regime, waiting for escalation of what looks to be the Second Signpost.
The Strait of Hormuz was closed solidly for 112 days. It was then open for six days.
Today, it seems to be officially closed again.
News stories report that after the US struck positions in Iran, the IRGC not only struck a target in Bahrain, but also struck an oil tanker off the coast of Oman.
“After yesterday’s U.S. strikes in response to the Iranian attack on M/V Ever Lovely, Iran was given a chance to honor the ceasefire agreement but elected not to when its forces launched a one-way attack drone that hit M/T Kiku this morning.”
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said on X,
“Safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz cannot be guaranteed under ambiguous arrangements, parallel routes or decision-making that does not take Iran’s role as a coastal state into account.”
In other words, the US says Iran was given a chance for peace but blew it, and Iran says passage through the Strait is ambiguous as long as you all are not listening to us.
Conclusion
Iran is reminding the US who is calling the shots, and who has the Strait under its surveillance and control.
It seems, for now, that these attacks by Iran would keep the insurance companies from covering cargoes going through the Strait.
This would also mean that the drain on what’s left of the global oil inventories would continue again.
And the war could resume at any time. Or both parties could pretend to continue the peace talks and wait for September.
The music of musical chairs continues. For now.
Keep watch.
