(11 July 2026) It is now 10 pm MST July 11, or, 5 AM GMT, July 12. We have been watching events centered on Iran and its regime, waiting for escalation of what looks to be the Second Signpost.
The Strait of Hormuz is closed again. The Strait was closed solidly for 112 days starting on March 2, allowing the global inventory of oil to drain to near zero.
It has now been 21 days that the closure ended and the Strait opened, but now the Strait is closed again.
Matt Bracken on his Substack wrote an excellent article about the insanity of the US invading Iran with boots on the ground.
He shows the absurdity of even invading Kharg and Qeshm Islands.
The point is also made that the US Fifth Fleet is no longer based in the Persian Gulf and that its headquarters in Bahrain has been damaged enough to require abandonment.
He also asks the question of why are US Navy ships staying hundreds of miles away from the Strait? It’s because they are afraid of anti-ship missiles the IRGC might use.
Like the porcupine, Iran cannot be deterred and will be very dangerous if messed with.
Conclusion
The US really is painted into a corner. Just like with the First Signpost, the Second Signpost is coming about due to blatantly stupid moves by the US.
The only difference between the US invading versus not invading, peace of mind will still be taken away by the second horseman. It would only be a matter of timing and flavor.

I wonder why.
Iran seems to gradually escalate: After intense US strikes, last night Iran attacked Qatar, Bahrein, Oman and even Jordan. The latter was never attacked until a few days ago, but now it regularly is. I guess this is because the number of active US bases in the region has fallen so much that otherwise Iran would no longer have enough targets.
Iran does not seem to target infrastructure, just US targets, but debris of successful interceptions does do some damage now and then.
Several ships were attacked too. Iran even officially said that the Strait is now closed completely. After this, Qatar announced that no vessel, not even fishing boats, should try to cross the Strait because that would be too dangerous.
