(1 November 2026) The Second Signpost, as written about in Daniel Revisited chapter 10, is likely upon us. The Iranian regime has repeated itself saying what targets it would attack if its infrastructure is attacked by the US.
Trump has stated the US will attack Iran after the midterm election.
The Psalm 83 War is also before us, as is attacks on Israel, let alone the next round of war with Iran.
So what does Signpost theory say is next? It gives an answer, but to more deeply understand, there is a key to the Iranian regime’s behavior.
The Key
Remember, about the Persian Ram’s run, Daniel 8:4 (NIV) says,
“No animal could stand against him, and none could rescue from his power. He did as he pleased and became great.”
It’s the text in bold that tells us the key to what’s next. The Ram will do as it pleases.
What does the Ram exactly want to do and would be pleased to do?
Daniel Revisited chapter 10, tells us about a book written by the first supreme leader, Khomeini, who set Iran on its current mission. The book is titled The Guardianship of the Jurisprudent (or Jurist) and states that Iran’s mission is to bring in the Mahdi, their twelfth imam. Their Mahdi is our Antichrist.
To bring out the Mahdi requires the IRGC to do two things—(1) create economic chaos for the whole world, and (2) conquer, occupy and unite many Muslim countries in the Middle East to rule over them and make them Twelver Shias.
That’s it. But it has major implications.
To do this two-part mission would require subduing the American and Israeli military forces, so Iran can do as it pleases.
I believe goading them into attacking Iran was the first part of the regime’s plan and is known by us as the Iran War.
The past seven months and the attack by the US after the midterm election could then result in the US military withdrawing from the region, or no longer being a threat to Iran.
But what of the Israeli military? That is where the Psalm 83 War comes in (written about here and here). Iran would have all the Islamist militias surrounding Israel to attack all at once to keep Israel busy, so Iran is free to run out and conquer many Muslim countries.
The regime actually relies on the Mahdi to deal with Israel (which he will do in the Gog War of Ezekiel 38, but that is much later). The regime simply wants to call forth the Mahdi.
Conclusion
Understanding the regime’s motivation helps us understand what Iran will likely do next. Thinking of Iran’s mission from Iran’s perspective helps us see the path of events that Iran will try to drive.
If the regime is successful and the US fails, the Second Signpost will begin in force, with Arab oil facilities destroyed, and Iranian forces on the ground taking Muslim countries.
