Will Leading Candidate for Prominent Horn be Unseated?

The Four Signposts presented in Daniel Revisited shows the prophecies of Daniel 7 and 8 to be fulfilled here in the end time and not earlier in ancient times.

Daniel Revisited chapter 11 makes the case as to why former Turkish Prime Minister and present Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is the leading candidate to be the prominent horn of the goat of Daniel 8:5:

“As I was thinking about this, suddenly a goat with a prominent horn between his eyes came from the west, crossing the whole earth without touching the ground.” (NIV 1984)

Erdogan has held a leadership position in Turkey for the last twenty years, while moving the country away from the secular culture introduced by Kemal Ataturk a century ago, toward a more Islamist society.

Turkey held its presidential election Sunday, May 14, 2023, per the Turkish constitution. The past several elections have shown roughly half the population to be secular Muslim supporting Kemalism and joining the EU, while the other half has been shown to be supporting staunch Islamism, which includes making Turkey a more Islamic religious country and asserting its dominance in the region.

Results should be out soon. Even if Erdogan is defeated in this election, his party will still be dominant in running the country, and he would be allowed to run again in the next election.

If Erdogan is ousted from power and politics, then after Iran invades the Middle East for the Second Signpost, a surprise candidate for the prominent horn would make an appearance. “Suddenly” in Daniel 8:5 I always took as applying to Turkey as a whole with its Sunni Confederacy, but it could also apply to the man himself who is to be the horn, the king of Yavan.

Update, 15 May 2023 – –

Results of the election are in. Since no one got 50% of the vote, Erdogan and the runner-up, Kemal Kilicdaroglu, head to a run-off election on May 28. With Erdogan at 49.5% and Kilicdaroglu at 44.9%, Erdogan is favored to win. But we will see.

  1. He got the most votes but didn’t cross 50% so now there’s a runoff on the 28th.

“Conservative Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan faces a runoff with his main rival in two weeks that will decide who leads a country struggling with sky-high inflation and hosting Syrian refugees as it plays a key role in the Middle East and in NATO expansion.

Election officials said Monday that the May 28 second round will allow Turks to decide if their nation remains under the increasingly authoritarian president’s firm grip for a third decade, or if it can embark on the more democratic course that Kemal Kilicdaroglu has claimed he can deliver.”

  2. Going back to your previous post about the invasion of, or the US being nuked without a retaliatory response from the US doesn’t make sense to me. It seems that even with an off shore sub(s) launching nukes at the US we would still be able to launch nukes back at Russia and China. Love to know more of your thoughts. Eric

  3. Hi Eric,
I’m only leaning that way because (1) China will have a functioning nation producing an overwhelming army per Revelation’s sixth trumpet and bowl, as if they were relatively unscathed by a nuclear war, (2) East Earth has the same type of cultural idolatries as China, and China’s were eradicated by the CCP, hence it is likely the CCP could eradicate all the others in East Earth, which again, means China is unscathed as it takes over east Asia, and (3) America is headed to abject poverty which would happen in any number of ways but many involve nuclear weapons – not enough to erase the US, but enough to severely interrupt US society, its economy, and way of life, i.e. to take away America’s cultural idolatries.
Bottomline is this is speculation on my part extrapolated from what we can discern from the Bible and its chiastic structure as shown in Hidden Babylon.
