A Trend Continues: Iran’s Rise in Influence

Prior to the Second Signpost which is the invasion of the Middle East by Iran, we would expect to see Iran’s power and regional influence continue to increase.  We saw in this post Iran’s increasing power, and in this post its increasing influence in the region, particularly in Iraq.

This is a trend that should continue for months (or possibly years) prior to the Second Signpost.  Adding another data point to this trend, this news story was just released.  According to a poll taken of Iraqis, Iran – and not the U.S. – is seen to be Iraq’s best ally when it comes to fighting the Islamic State (IS).

In a post from six months ago, Is ISIS the Trigger for the Second Signpost? I wrote,

“I could very well be wrong, but here is my opinion nonetheless. Indications show that Iran is creating its nuclear weaponry right now. It may already have them, but for whatever reason they are not quite ready to invade. If ISIS were to conquer Baghdad, that would be it for the new democratic government in Iraq, and Iran’s network of supply to the west would go completely down. In order to buy time until it is ready, I believe Iran will send fighters to fight alongside Iraqi soldiers to defend Baghdad. They won’t be Iranian soldiers in uniform most likely – that would be rather shocking for many western nations – but they will be militants aligned with Iran. Sometime during this struggle for Baghdad, Iran may very well begin the Second Signpost and completely obliterate ISIS.” (I added the emphasis.)

So the preparations continue.  Iran is indeed biding its time until it is ready for its invasion.  For six months now it has been sending soldiers and weapons to Iraq to assist Iraqi Shias against IS.  But notice that the front is still only outside Baghdad.  Iran is helping to defend Baghdad, but Iran is not vanquishing IS just yet.

And now in Iraq, Iran’s presence is ubiquitous and strongly felt.  And for years where the IRGC has been in the shadows in Iraq, controlling that country behind the scenes, that presence is now out in the open.

If the Signpost interpretation of Daniel 7 and 8 is correct, then indeed Iran will be allowed to do everything it wants to do as it says in Daniel 8:4b regarding the Persian ram: “No animal could stand against him, and none could rescue from his power. He did as he pleased and became great.”  Iran seen as a savior and as an ally in Iraq will greatly help Iran in its invasion plans as it charges out, along the lines of Daniel 8:4.

  1. Incredibly a Pastor just told me face to face that Islam has no role in the last days: that God destroys it at the Gog/Magog war. Furthermore he tells me the Persian invasion of Daniel 8 has already been fulfilled. *sigh*

  2. Unfortunately, it is not incredible James. Many in church leadership blindly believe the exact same thing. It will take some more of the church to awaken/understand (still not most) for Mark’s Second Signpost to actually manifest on the news before Mark will even be considered to be taken seriously. The downside of this is that the Church will be unprepared to face Islam and the sheep are the victims who suffer the most. Church leadership will be held to account severely before the LORD because of their negligence to feed and care for the sheep.

    Blessings!

  3. James, unfortunately, this is the majority opinion among pastors. In Matt. 25:5, Jesus teaches that prior to his return all ten of the virgins (churchgoers) will be asleep! This pastor with misconceptions doesn’t surprise Jesus one bit. The pastor is sleeping. That is why Jesus has given us the ministry to awaken them! Ready For Jesus Ministries is a group of now almost 250 folks worldwide dedicated to reaching out to pastors, who are the key to awakening the whole church.

The book Are We Ready For Jesus? How to Prepare for His Return (read and critiqued by Mark, and numerous other brothers and sisters, thanks Mark!) is specifically designed to awaken pastors. The book should be in stores and online in May 2015. We are currently working on a 5 minute companion DVD. The problem is pastors are entrenched in these old thinkings and are “too busy” to read a book (and it takes a book length treatment to overcome these misconceptions.) They will watch a 5 minute DVD however. The DVD prayerfully will interest them enough to read.

The ministry is as simple as meeting a pastor after his sermon and handing him the book and DVD (or an online link). Stop over to the website http://www.thegospelintheendtimes.com, subscribe to the site and you will receive email updates of what is occurring. Depending on the Spirit’s leading you can meet with one or many pastors in your area.

    Blessings to you James!

  4. It’s reported this week that ISIS wiped out the forward command group of an Al Qods Brigades commando force early Monday, Jan. 12, killing its commander (Debkafile). Also, ISIS systematic targeting of top officers fighting them in Iraq, especially the Iranians, led to an assassination attempt upon the C-in-C of that elite IRGC force.

  5. Reblogged this on Richard's Watch and commented:

  6. Hi Richard,
You are the second reader to bring this up on this site, having commented on another post. Looks like I should make a post about this.

  7. SO !!! SIx months ago you wrote (by God-given wisdom, I believe):

“In order to buy time until it is ready, I believe Iran will send fighters to fight alongside Iraqi soldiers to defend Baghdad.”

Adding to Iranians already on the ground, according to a January 1, 2015 Debkafile article, Iran and Iraq have signed a soldier-training pact. This scheme was inked on the last day of 2014.

Iran’s influence continues to snake along the influence trail.

How many might be unsettled to learn who one big financier is, for the military preps of this Iran-Iraq alliance? The article title says it all:

“OBAMA’S GIFT FOR ISRAEL AND MID EAST: FUNDING FOR A NEW IRAQI ARMY —
    DOMINATED BY IRAN’S REV GUARDS”

The article’s first chilling sentence reports:

“President Barack Obama’s New Year gift to Israel and the Middle East is a multibillion fund for establishing AN IRAQI ARMY AS A DIVISION OF THE IRANIAN REVOLUTIONARY GUARDS (IRGC).” //emphasis mine//

In perusing this suck-in-your-breath-and-just-eat-it report, I was heartened by the reality that our Almighty, just, and loving God turns the king’s heart as He wills, The Sovereign LORD of all the earth, working all things according to His eternal plan-for-good, is not wringing His hands over the shenanigans of nations. ALL of them are but dust in the balance to Him.

    “Even so, come, LORD Jesus.”

  8. Judith,
As I was reading your comment I was reminded that yes, Daniel 7 and 8 are being played out in real time in the Middle East, but we don’t know who the people will be who are involved, or the circumstances by which things occur. So we will be in for lots of surprises. Regarding Obama, this financing report may not be too surprising as he is all over the Second and Third Signposts, helping them happen.
